Volunteering
Last year I wanted to develop my social media skills and took the opportunity to volunteer with NCT in my spare time. I worked as their Social Media Officer and was in charge of creating content for their Facebook and Instagram accounts. To create the content I primarily used Photoshop but also Illustrator and I was given access to the bank of assets from the organisation.
When creating each post I made sure that the branding was fitting with the company and also that there was a clear purpose as to why this piece of media was being created. Also, in the bank there were certain pieces of imagery that would not be suitable for social media so I used my initiative to use the content which would be appropriate and target my audience of parents and soon to be parents.
Analysing the success
To plan out my content I set it all up through the Meta Business Suite, this allowed me to gain experience in Social Media Planning and also evaluate what times would be best to post to reach the highest audience. I really enjoyed my time working for this organisation, however sadly for the location I was working in there wasn't enough events being run which made it a challenge to promote and engage with the following as I had to redirect them to other locations etc.
